NOTE: Node-RED is supported on O3 Edge hardware revision 1.0g running firmware 4.19 or later. Node-RED is not supported on O3 Sense. Please refer to the release notes to see if your firmware version supports Node-RED.

Overview

Node-RED is a low code visual programming tool for ‘wiring’ together hardware devices, APIs, and online services.

Node-RED provides a browser-based editor that allows you to wire together flows using a wide range of nodes in the palette that can be deployed to its runtime in a single-click.

In simple terms, it takes an input and triggers an output.

Node-RED on supported Version 4 controller models can be accessed via the embedded web server only. Node-RED runs through the embedded web server because it adds an extra security layer to protect against unauthorized use.

NOTE: The primary use-case for Node-RED in Delta Controls BAS controllers is for IOT protocol integration. It uses event-based triggers and runs independently from the controller’s database scan cycle. As such, it is NOT a suitable replacement for GCL.
